Leila Mian is a registered Social Worker, holding a Master’s of Social Work degree from the University of Manitoba and a Bachelor’s degree in Human Rights and Women and Gender Studies from Carleton University.
Leila uses a client-centred, strengths-based, and trauma-informed approach in her work with individuals and couples. She works primarily from a solution focused, brief therapy and narrative therapy framework, incorporating elements of mindfulness based practice and an internal family systems approach.
She is a culturally sensitive, racialized woman of Pakistani and Canadian heritage. Leila has worked extensively in the community with diverse populations ranging from sexual assault and childhood sexual abuse survivors, newcomers and immigrants, youth and adults in the justice system, and high conflict couples.
Leila’s therapeutic approach consists of providing a safe and welcoming environment for her clients. She believes that her clients are the experts on their own lives and believes that holding space for her clients to feel empowered in the therapeutic process to achieve their fullest potential is the most important part of one’s therapeutic journey.
