GROUP THERAPY INTENSIVES

How it Works

Each intensive is a half-day session where participants take turns receiving individual therapy in a supportive, group setting. While one participant engages in a session with the therapist, the other two observe, gaining valuable insights through witnessing different approaches to similar challenges. This structure fosters reflection, connection, and practical learning.

Benefits of Group Therapy Intensives

  • Diverse Perspectives: Observing how others navigate challenges can inspire new ways of thinking and approaching your own situations.
  • Enhanced Self-Reflection: Watching peers in therapy often prompts personal insights and a deeper understanding of your own experiences.
  • Skill Development: Learn strategies, techniques, and coping mechanisms by seeing how the therapist supports others, and apply these tools to your own life.
  • Empathy and Connection: Share a space with individuals facing similar struggles, fostering mutual support and understanding.

What to Expect

  • A small, intimate group of three participants ensures a personalized experience.
  • Each participant receives a one-on-one therapy session while the other two observe.
  • Sessions are facilitated in person by Dr. Kovachik in a safe, confidential setting.
  • Opportunities for debriefing and discussion enhance learning and integration.

Who Are Group Therapy Intensives For?

Group Therapy Intensives are ideal for individuals who:

  • Are open to exploring their challenges in a structured and supportive group format where experiences align.
  • Want to learn from others’ experiences and explore new perspectives.
  • Value the opportunity to reflect deeply on their own journey in a collaborative environment.
  • Seek out innovative approaches to therapy and are looking to make significant progress in a short amount of time.

How are groups selected?

To ensure each Group Therapy Intensive is impactful and tailored to participants’ needs, we take great care in creating groups with aligned concerns. Prospective participants connect via email and identify their primary area of interest or presenting challenge. This information is then used to thoughtfully match individuals, ensuring a cohesive and supportive group dynamic. This personalized approach allows for deeper connection, meaningful insights, and relevant therapeutic exploration.

Current Themes We Are Recruiting For:

The Group Therapy Intensives are carefully centered on specific themes to address common challenges in a focused and effective way. Current themes include:

  • Reconfiguring Identity Following Major Life Transitions: Explore how significant changes—such as career shifts, relationship changes, or becoming a parent—impact your sense of self and the process of rediscovering your identity.
  • Exploring the Role of Attachment Experiences in Current Close Relationships: Gain insight into how past attachment patterns influence your present connections and learn strategies to foster healthier, more fulfilling relationships.
  • Navigating Grief and Loss: Find support and understanding as you process loss, build resilience, and explore ways to move forward while honouring your experiences.

Dates and Times

Group Therapy Intensives are scheduled on the afternoon (12:00pm-4:00pm) of the first Monday of each month. When group capacity is reached, participants are contacted to confirm the exact date of their intensive.

Cost Per Intensive

The cost for a 4-hour Group Therapy Intensive is $400 per participant. This includes:

  • A full individual therapy session with personalized guidance.
  • The opportunity to observe two other therapy sessions and learn from diverse perspectives.
  • A final debrief session to consolidate insights and strategies.

Spaces are limited to three participants per session to ensure a focused, intimate experience.

Please identify one of the three themes that is most relevant to your experience in your email communication. Expect to hear back from Dr. Kovachik within two business days.
